About

In my youth I never had a clear sense of what I wanted to do with my life: I had so many competing interests, and just couldn’t settle on a single path! I went to college and graduated at the top of my class with both a BA in Graphic Design and a BS in Marine Science, but still no direction. After more than a decade working as a design consultant and selling interior decorating products, I found myself craving more meaning in my career. I was making people happy, but I wasn’t really helping them in any lasting way.

I’d been obsessed with property ownership from a very young age. I have clear memory of yawning through my friends’ descriptions of what their husbands and weddings would be like, and then eagerly describing to them the land and homes I planned to own in beautiful places all over the country. When my wife and I purchased our first home in 2012, it was the realization of many years of hopes and dreams, and changed my life for the better in so many ways. It was that experience that got me thinking about just how I might be able to help bring about meaningful changes in the lives of others, and I decided to become a real estate agent. I didn’t realize it at the time, but the wide variety of skills required to excel in real estate made it a career path perfectly suited to my nature.

My mission from the start was to help members of underserved populations become homeowners. Whether we like it or not, we live in a nation where property ownership is the easiest path to stability and wealth. I know that if I can get someone into their first home, it can give them a leg-up towards a better life. As a member of the queer community, I also know first-hand the relief that comes with having a safe space that is completely your own! To date, the majority of my clients are first-time buyers. Nowadays, I also have the pleasure of working with many of those same people as they SELL for the first time and walk away with tens-of-thousands of dollars that they earned passively, all while enjoying beneficial tax breaks and painting their walls whatever color they please.

It is deeply satisfying to have found my way into a career where I am both making a difference in people’s lives AND indulging my innate need for continuous learning. It would truly be my joy to share in your real estate journey, whatever it may be!

Interests

Hiking/Backpacking

I’ve been a hiker my entire life, but backpacking is an activity my wife and I discovered together in 2008. Our first trip was on the Eagle Creek Trail, but these days we usually drive farther for more solitude, and our favorite areas are in the Mt Jefferson wilderness and around Mt Adams.

Sailing

It all started with a $600 craigslist sailboat and an online sailing simulator. Now we are ASA certified sailors, saving up for a bigger boat, and working our way towards a goal of cruising in Puget Sound and beyond!

Gaming/D&D

I’ve been a console gamer since Nintendo, a PC gamer since 2008, and in 2015 my wife convinced me to play Dungeons and Dragons with her, something she had not done since she was a teenager. Now we host weekly games, and occasional D&D weekend getaways.

Science & Sci-fi

I’m both a science geek and a sci-fi nerd. I try to keep up on both the latest discoveries AND episodes of Star Trek: Discovery. I read voraciously, everything from Sagan to Dawkins, Le Guin to Kim Stanley Robinson.

The Ocean

I’ve been SCUBA certified since I was 12, and have had the pleasure of diving in Florida, Mexico, Hawaii, Australia, and Bali. I got my BS in Marine Science, am usually up-to-date on the latest ocean research.

Cats!

My wife and I have 3 beautiful fur-children: Havoc, Monkey, and PITA. Properly spoiling them is a full-time job!

Crafting

You name it, I’ve tried it! My current crafty obsessions are miniature painting, sewing, and wood-working.

Music and Dancing

I’ll admit it… I was a 90s raver! I’m a great lover of all electronic music, and you can still find me dancing the night away in the woods from time to time.
